We are living in an era where Adulteration had reached its peak in the food industry. Uncontrolled usage of toxic elements in food to make it tasty, uncontrolled usage of chemical fertilizers to increase yield and use of processed food/ meat leaves food almost nutrition free. As an attempt to serve nutritious food, Go Native comes with a great concept- from Farm to Table!
I have heard a lot about this place from my fellow foodie friends and finally got a chance to dine in last week. It is located on a stand-alone building on the beautiful and calm residential area of Jayanagar. A bungalow, which has been converted into a restaurant and a lifestyle store. As I entered, I felt that everything is very grounded and close to nature.
Beautifully decorated place with potted plants and wooden seating. The lighting is impressive, specially the lampshades. Go Native has a ground-floor garden seating area, a first floor terrace seating as well as inside seating area. In both floors they have their in house store for Eco-friendly lifestyle products. Their products include home decor, ayurvedic bath, skin care range, art and crafts, organic food products and more. They have brands like Nature Alley, Bandhej, Tea Box and more… I got excited by their unique collection of beautiful lampshades.
Now coming to the food. The dishes predominantly had the usage of jackfruit as this was the fruit of the season. Following were the dishes that we tasted:
Soups:
- Carrot Coconut Ginger
- Roasted Pumpkin Orange
- Mushroom Chilli Potato
I loved the roasted pumpkin and orange soup. But the Mushroom soup was the best of the three and a must try out here.
Starters:
- Aloo Patka Bindhi Chat
- Harabara Sabudana Kebab
- Cheesy Madur Vade
- Mangalore Buns
- Pav Platter
- Louts Stem Mini Guntur Idli
- Pita with Beetroot Humus with Chana Masala.
All the starters were good. But a special mention needs to be given to Mini Guntur Idli stuffed with lotus stem inside and the super awesome Mangalore Buns.
Beverages:
- Mango & Mint Smoothie
- Choco Peanut Butter Shake
- Khus Lemon Sarbet
- Jackfruit Coconut Milkshake
- Cucumber Chaas.
Beverages were very refreshing, completely natural with no artificial colours or flavours. A homemade touch could be felt in all beverages.
Main Course:
- Ragi Pizza
- Dal Poori.
- Shahi Palak Paneer Jalfreezi Casserole
- Millet & Palak Kichidi
- Buddha Bowl with Brown Rice
- Kathal Biryani
Being a non-vegetarian, I was reluctant to taste the non-veg free Biryani but a spoon full had changed my mind. It tasted exactly as chicken Biryani. In Main course, the Ragi Pizza was the star of the show. No one can make out that the crust is made of Ragi and yet it tastes so good!
Desserts
- Jackfruit Ice Apple & Coconut Trifle.
- Halibai Platter
- Apple & Cinnamon Cake with Vanilla Ice-cream
- Flavoured Baked Yogurts.
- Lemon Cheese Cake Tart
- Matka Vanilla Pudding with Gulab Jamun
Desserts are mind blowing here. The Jackfruit Ice Apple and coconut trifle is a signature dish here. The Jackfruit and Ice apple being seasonal fruits gets replaced with others from time to time. And the interesting part of this dish is that it is served on coconut shell. The Matka vanilla pudding with Gulab Jamun is also worth a try.
